Exhibiting Forgiveness

Sunday, December 8,
1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. EST

Join us and BlackStar Film Festival for a special screening of Exhibiting Forgiveness (2024), Titus Kaphar’s first narrative feature film, which debuted at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The semi-autobiographical film follows Tarrell (André Holland), an artist attempting to overcome the trauma of his past through painting. He is on the path to success when he is derailed by an unexpected visit from his estranged father. The film explores themes of family, generational healing, and the power of forgiveness.

The screening will be followed by a conversation between Kaphar and Grammy Award-winning musician and author, Tariq ‘Black Thought’ Trotter.

This program is in collaboration with BlackStar Projects and the exhibition, Time is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure.

The event is free, registration is required.
