Watchdog Drinking Water

17th century
Attributed to Jan Fyt (Flemish (active Antwerp), 1611–1661)
A pupil of Frans Snyders (Flemish, 1579-1657), Jan Fyt painted still life and animal subjects noted for their use of dynamic motifs and realism of textures, especially fur. Several versions of this subject are attributed to Fyt, and this painting may be the one exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, in 1887.
