Eliezer Meets Rebecca at the Well

1722
Francesco Fernandi (called Imperiali) (Italian, 1679–1740)
Imperiali spent most of his career in Rome, becoming a favorite of the English collectors who visited the Eternal City in droves during the eighteenth century. He taught a number of the English artists who worked there, attracted by the antiquities, the great monuments of Renaissance and Baroque art, and the numerous possibilities for training as history painters.
