Yvonne Duchamp in Profile

1913
Jacques Villon (Gaston Duchamp) (French, 1875–1963)
The Judith Rothschild Foundation's 2001 gift of thirty-three prints and one drawing by the French master printmaker Jacques Villon transformed the Philadelphia Museum of Art's holdings into one of the greatest public collections of Villon's Cubist prints. The collection boasts instructive pairings of proofs and multiple states. This exceptionally rare second state of a portrait of Villon's sister Yvonne was added to this collection in 2003 when this brilliant impression was located. The Museum has also been home since 1954 to the world's richest collection of work by Villon's younger brother Marcel Duchamp, and since 1978 to an important group of sculptures by their middle brother, Raymond Duchamp-Villon.
