Made in France by Edouard D. Honoré, successor to Dagoty and Honoré, the dessert service for President James K. Polk displays green borders with the shield in a reserve and large, botanically accurate flowers in the center of each piece.
By 1846, Honoré, who had a showroom in Paris and a factory in Champroux, was by far the leading producer of French tableware, much of which was specifically designed for the American market.
