Dead Soldier (Fascism)

1940
Francisco Dosamantes (Mexican, 1911–1986) Published by Taller de Gráfica Popular, Mexico City
During the Spanish Civil War of 1936-39, the antifascist artists of the Taller de Gráfica Popular supported the Soviet-backed Republicans against the Nazi-supported Nationalists, who were led by the ultimately victorious general Francisco Franco (1892-1975). Dead Soldier (Fascism) is the last in a series of brutal lithographs by Dosamantes depicting the indiscriminate casualties inflicted on Spanish civilians and Republican troops by German air force bomber attacks.
