Sculpture

1932
Julio González (Spanish, 1876–1942)
González constructed his sculptures by welding and forging metal, departing from the sculptural traditions of carving (wood or stone) and modeling (clay or plaster). This silver sculpture, which González also called Resplendence, depicts a woman combing her hair. González evokes her face, pose, and setting with a combination of simple lines and bent planes.
