Cargill (1872-1939) and his brother William A. Cargill (d. 1962) were noted collectors of nineteenth-century paintings.3. Copy of dated receipt from Parke-Bernet to Stern in curatorial file. A note in the Louis Stern files in the PMA archives indicates that Bignou (Bignou Gallery) in New York acted as agent for the Cargill Estate.
