Floor Pot

1974
William Daley (American, 1925–2022)
Floor Pot was created in the year of Daley’s first solo exhibition in Philadelphia. It was inspired by the architectural renderings of Hugh Ferriss (American, 1889–1962), whose skyscraper sketches sparked the long, columnar forms seen in Daley’s work of this period. Emphasizing architectural space and rhythms, it was one of the first to be displayed alongside the artist’s complex drawings and shows his early focus on height.
