Ritual Bone Apron

15th - 16th century
Artist/maker unknown, Tibetan or Nepalese
This bone apron, held together with strings and a textile belt, is a part of a larger set of six pieces that would have included a crown, chest ornament, bracelets, armlets, and anklets. These types of ornaments are generally paired with a brocade costume and worn by a person representing the deity in tantric Buddhist rituals and dances.
