Decorated by the shop of Louis Marie François Rihouët (Paris, 1818–1855) After an etching by Gilbert Fox (American (born England), 1776–c. 1806) , from a drawing by William Birch (American (born England), 1755–1834)
This dessert plate, part of a service, depicts scenes of architectural monuments of Philadelphia. It was either commissioned by Richard Rush--minister to France from 1847 to 1849--or Phoebe Anne Ridgway, wife of Dr. James Rush.
