Woman's Three-Piece Ensemble: Coat, Bodice, and Skirt

c. 1878
Designed by Amedee François, Paris (1870s–1880s)
Amedee François was one of the many small dressmaking firms noted for its "robes" and "confections." The masterful use of fabric, braid, and tassels in this ensemble makes it nearly indistinguishable from the upholstered furniture and draperies of the last quarter of the nineteenth century.
