Woman's Coat and Stole
Designed by Pauline Trigère, American, born Paris, 1908 - 2002
Born in Paris, Pauline Trigère moved to New York in her mid-twenties; for over fifty years, her designs successfully combined French elegance with American practicality. The designer’s coats and capes won special praise, and she was also noted for scarves and stoles that could be casually wrapped or dramatically draped around the wearer. The fluidity of this sweeping cape-like coat is accentuated by bold, diagonal stripes and a matching stole that fastens onto the coat’s top button.
