Inscribed: Elizabeth Stauffer 1794 / Je Länger Je lieber muß wohnen Allein waß mag doch die ursach Sein weil Treÿ un[d] glauben ist worden klein. In dem Geliebten Rosen Thal viel Rosen Zeigen ohne Zahl Da wird Auch sein Daß Lilen Feld Dort in der neuen Himmels Welt Da Alles wird in Schönsten Flor nach Seiner Art Wachsen Her vor Da werden Grosen feigen sein die Trauben/bringen süßen wein (Elizabeth Stauffer 1794 / I must live alone, the longer the better; the reason: because good faith has become rare. In the beloved valley of roses, [there are] many roses without number. There will also be the field of lilies in Heaven’s new world, when everything will be in the most beautiful bloom. Large figs will blossom forth in their own fashion, the grapes [will] make sweet wine)
