Gifts of StockGifts of appreciated securities (stocks, bonds, or mutual funds held for more than one year) are excellent ways to support the Museum. Such gifts are easy to make and may provide a greater tax benefit than an equivalent gift in cash. A gift of stock owned for more than one year may entitle you to an income-tax charitable deduction for the full fair-market value of the donated asset. If the stock has appreciated, you also avoid any capital-gains tax on the appreciation. How to make a gift of stock
If you are interested in making a gift of stock, you or your broker should contact Development at 215-684-7766 or by e-mail at . Please provide your name, telephone number, the name of the stock, number of shares, the approximate date you will make the gift, approximate value of the gift, and the designation for your gift (General, Membership, Operations, Exhibition Support, etc.). If you are using a broker, please provide his or her name and telephone number. Closely held stock, Subchapter S corporation stock, limited liability company interests, and partnerships can sometimes be used to make a charitable gift. Any proposed gift of such assets should be reviewed with the Museum and your tax advisors in advance. Please contact Development at 215-684-7766 or for assistance. If you hold the certificate for your shares
