Annunciation to the Shepherds. In this miniature, two shepherds stand in a hilly landscape looking up at an angel who announces Christ's birth. A sleeping dog, flocks of sheep, and a rabbit occupy the foreground. This scene is closely modeled on a miniature from the celebrated Belles Heures illuminated by the Limbourg brothers for Jean, duke of Berry.
