The Masters of the Suffrages

Christ Bids Farewell to His Mother. The scene of Christ Bidding Farewell to his Mother is part of the Passion (the last days of Christ's life). This is an unusual subject in Books of Hours and is derived from late medieval devotional texts. The miniatures were added to this Book of Hours several years after the text was completed; the leaves on which they are painted are smaller than the text pages.
