Book of Hours for Rome Use
Belgium, Bruges, 1430s
A Member of the Gold Scrolls Group, active c. 1415 to 1455

The Virgin Mary and the Christ Child in a Garden. The Virgin Mary and the Christ Child sit on a large cushion inside a walled garden while behind them two angels hold a yellow cloth-of-honor. The vibrant, red background of the miniature is accented with the small, gold scrolls for which the Gold Scrolls Group painters are known.
