Transfiguration. In this miniature illustrating the Hours of the Holy Spirit, the Dove of the Holy Spirit appears above the startling red face of Christ. This miniature depicts the moment when Christ was transfigured: "And his face did shine as the sun: and his garments became white as snow" (Matthew 17:2). This event occurred on a mountain in the presence of three disciples and the Old Testament prophets Moses and Elijah.
