Book of Hours for Utrecht Use
The Netherlands, c. 1500

Initial H Decorated with Penwork. The margins of this Dutch Book of Hours are decorated with elaborate penwork including starlike rosettes. This page is vellum, but the surrounding text pages are paper, attesting to the very unusual construction of this late manuscript.

The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, Krauth Memorial Library, 3478, fol. 133
