Book of Hours for Bourges Use
France, probably Bourges, c. 1500

Bathsheba at Her Bath, with Uriah Sent to His Death. In this Book of Hours, the Seven Penitential Psalms are illustrated with Old Testament scenes showing David sinning. Here, the sins of adultery and murder are highlighted as David witnesses Bathsheba at her bath above and sends Bathsheba's husband, Uriah, to his death below.
