Book of Hours for Bourges Use
France, probably Bourges, c. 1500

Annunciation. This scene of the Annunciation is painted on two pages, with the angel Gabriel on the left and the Virgin Mary reading from a book on the right. The artist used gold extravagantly to depict rays of light from heaven. Musician angels stand within niches of the architectural frame.
