Kimball's most extensive contribution was to be the architecture portion of Art and Architecture of France in the eighteenth century, an installment of the Pelican History of Art series that would follow the volume written by Anthony Blunt. Francis Watson, an expert on French painting and sculpture was to contribute the bulk of the text. Kimball began drafting the manuscript between late 1954 and early 1955, but was unable to finish it before his death. Manuscript and typescript drafts of chapters 1, 2 and 5, the introduction notes and bibliography of "Art and Architecture of France" are included in this subseries.
