Its purpose was to plan and coordinate the national celebration honoring the 200th anniversary of Thomas Jefferson's birth. In addition, Kimball served on the Advisory Committee to oversee the publication of Jefferson's writings. Kimball's dual role is documented primarily through correspondence.
