Comprising the bulk of the "Reference material" series, this subseries documents architectural types primarily through clippings from professional journals, particularly the Brickbuilder and American Architect and Building New. There are also clippings from French and German publications. While most of the material illustrates building exteriors and floor plans, there are also full-text articles, as well as ephemera, photographs and prints. Many of the building types are subdivided geographically, representing American and European architecture, and range from private to public structures--from apartments to train stations. Houses of the United States and religious buildings are the most substantially documented. Dating of material is given at the subseries level only.
