15th Annual Every Family Party Fundraiser

November 3, 2012

This year’s Every Family Party, titled “Night at the Museum,” will transform the Philadelphia Museum of Art into a nocturnal wonderland where the collection comes alive with children’s art activities, music, and dancing. Engaging projects, performances, and breakfast-for-dinner food will be offered from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the main building. The event is presented by PNC Arts Alive, a five-year, $5-million grant initiative of the PNC Foundation that supports the visual and performing arts.

Marla Shoemaker, The Kathleen C. Sherrerd Senior Curator of Education, says, “This year’s party promises to be a magical night and everyone is invited to come dressed in pajamas! The Every Family Party is not only the premier children’s event in Philadelphia, it is also a wonderful opportunity to engage with art while supporting art education.”

On this enchanting evening, guests  will encounter ballerinas performing alongside Edgar Degas’s Little Dancer and classical Indian music played by Penn Sargam in the Pillared Temple Hall. Children can go on a medieval art scavenger hunt by flashlight in the European art wing, create shadow puppets in the Indian and Himalayan art galleries, and handle real armor pieces from the Museum’s collection in “Knights at Night.” Younger attendees can sing and dance to music from “All Around This World” under a spectacular Flemish altarpiece and listen to bedtime stories amid early Renaissance masterpieces. The night will culminate with a performance in the Great Stair Hall by the Philadelphia-based dance theater company Brian Sanders’ Junk.

Single tickets are $30; children under one year old are free. Tickets are $25 per person for groups of six or more.

Sponsorships offer exciting benefits including an invitation to the Sponsor Pre-Party as well as recognition opportunities. Visit or call 215-235-SHOW to purchase tickets and sponsorships.

Community tickets, which can be purchased individually or with sponsorship packages, enable children and families from the Museum’s Community Partners to attend this event free of charge. Proceeds from the Every Family Party benefit the Museum’s award-winning Division of Education and Public Programs, which serves more than 85,000 schoolchildren and 200,000 adults each year. Last year’s event raised more than $20,000 for the Museum’s education programs and welcomed more than 200 children from Community Partner organizations throughout the city to the Museum.
