The Thinker was transported down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway by forklift the half mile from the conservation laboratory at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to the Rodin Museum. A crane was used to place the sculpture on its pedestal in front of the Rodin Museum. The conservation project began with research in January 1992 and the treatment phase covered April and May, at the end of which The Thinker was reinstalled. Its wax coating has been renewed twice in the intervening years.
