Let It Be

Tanabe Takeo

Japanese, born 1973

While most baskets tend to be either functional or decorative, Let It Be is strongly positioned as sculpture. The bamboo used to create its shape is virtuosically manipulated so that it appears to swell and writhe. Its maker, Tanabe Takeo, is a fourth-generation member of one of Japan’s most prestigious families of bamboo artists.
