Community Engagement
Our mission is to create a space of learning and exploration where art is accessible to everyone in Philadelphia, and beyond. To achieve this, we partner with city organizations, schools, and cultural organizations to build an environment of collaboration and belonging where as many communities as possible can enjoy the benefits of art.
Connecting with Communities
The museum works closely with our community partners to provide enriching programs and educational experiences to neighborhoods throughout our city. By meeting people where they already are, we’re able to connect with the broader cultural ecosystem of our city, learning and creating experiences together.
The Division of Learning and Engagement provides collaborative art programs and museum visits to local groups and families. All projects are created in collaboration with community partners, ensuring that each program is tailored to the unique interests and needs of that group. The Division of Learning and Engagement also supports special short-term projects to provide art programs and museum visits themed in conjunction with special exhibitions at the museum.
Family Passes, STAMP and ACCESS, Military Admission
The museum is for everyone and we want everyone to have access to it. Every first Sunday of the month is Pay What You Wish admission. PA ACCESS card or EBT card holders are free with photo ID. And 18 and under are always free.

Heritage Months
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is committed to remaining a second home for all Philadelphians and visitors to the city. We honor the following Heritage Months to help ensure our ongoing investment in community and collaboration:
Black History Month (February)
Women’s History Month (March)
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May)
LGBTQ+ Pride Month (June)
Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15)
Each Heritage Month is anchored by Friday evening celebrations and family festivals. These events pay homage to how specific communities and ethnic groups have changed the course of history and creativity in the arts.
Heritage Month Artist Collaborators:
The Art Museum collaborates with a Philadelphia artist for each Heritage Month to celebrate the various creative and artistic cultures that enliven our city. From printmakers and painters to teaching artists and those who are academically trained, our artist collaborators are an essential part of how we want to exist as a museum: working with communities and artists that call Philadelphia home.
DJ In Residence
We're collaborating with three of Philadelphia's finest DJs to enliven our Friday Nights programming. Each three-month residency will highlight a single DJ’s unique style while they use the museum as a muse and take visitors on a sonic exploration of what our galleries and Philadelphia have to offer. The DJ in Residence will spin every 1st, 3rd and 4th Friday of the month.
