Woman's Two-Piece Dress: Top and Skirt

From the "candy box" heart full of three-dimensional silk buds to the bright stems printed on cotton woven with a raised pattern, Christian Lacroix’s peplum-waisted dress is covered with roses. Theatrical, decorative, and unabashedly romantic, Lacroix’s designs revitalized couture in the late 1980s, bringing frivolity to high fashion. His over-the-top creations were often ornamented with fabric flowers, which he loved. Silk roses, he claimed, are almost more intoxicating than real ones.
