Pleated, tucked, and draped from a single six- or nine-yard rectangle of gold and silken fabric, the Indian sari has long mesmerized fashion lovers. This lively conversation and draping demonstration will connect contemporary sari fashions to centuries of classic looks highlighted throughout the museum's galleries. Katherine Anne Paul, the museum's recently appointed Stella Kramrisch Curator of Indian and Himalayan Art, will lead the conversation within the Indian Temple Hall where newly displayed draped and flat saris will be showcased.
