Celebrate Pride Month at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Enjoy a night of live music from Black Buttafly, drop-in artmaking with artist De’von Downes to create paper-sculpted orchids, staff-led gallery talks highlighting queer experiences, and explore local organizations at our community tabling.

Drinks and snacks are available for purchase. Pay what you wish for entry to the museum.

Performance: Black Buttafly | Great Stair Hall | 5:30–6:15 p.m., 6:30–7:15 p.m., 7:30–8:15 p.m.
Kayla Childs, known artistically as Black Buttafly, is a Philadelphia-based multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer recognized for her soulful blend of jazz, R&B, and funk. She will be joined by two other musicians for this live performance.

Pop Up Studio: De’von Downes | 5:00–8:00 p.m. | Great Stair Hall Balcony
Join artist De’von Downes and create paper-sculpted orchids for a community floral still life in celebration of blooming together during Pride.

Gallery Talks: Queer Art in the Collection | Meeting in the Great Stair Hall | 5:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m., 7:15 p.m.
Explore art that speaks to the queer experience during a staff-led 15-minute gallery talk. Meet at the Information Desk in the Great Stair Hall.

Tours have a 20-person capacity and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Lily Scott, Coordinator of Interpretation, Special Projects, explores Queer American modernist artists and the American southwest with highlighted works by Marsen Hartley and Georgia O'Keeffe in the new American Art Galleries.
  • Nora Rosengarten, Dorothy del Bueno Curatorial Fellow in Prints, Drawings, and Photographs Department, highlights a work by Ellen Robbins and the idea of chosen family.
  • Clare Wiesen, Gallery Teacher for K-12 Programs, highlights Barbaro after the Hunt by Rosa Bonheur.
