About
In 1998 Philadelphia's venerable tuition-free art school, the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its founding and the twentieth anniversary of its Challenge Exhibition series, devoted to artists from this region. The Philadelphia Museum of Art will pay tribute to this lively South Philadelphia institution by inviting 20 artists from the Challenge series to participate in an exhibition at the Museum. The show will focus on a twenty year span of artists and their work and is planned to complement Fleisher's own show of new work by nearly 200 Challenge artists. The artists will be: Lisa Bartolozzi, Lanny Bergner, Norinne Betjemann, Charles Burwell, Syd Carpenter, Frank Galuszka, Michael Grothusen, Mei-ling Hom, Stacy Levy, Tristin Lowe, Gabriel Martinez, Susan Moore, Kate Moran, Brooke Moyer, Don Nakamura, Stuart Netsky, Bruce Pollock, Judith Schaechter, Hester Stinnett, and Stephen Talasnik.
