The Descent from the Cross

Over the second half of the fifteenth century, Cologne’s painters came increasingly under the influence of the art of the Low Countries. This representation of Christ’s descent from the cross, for example, reinterprets a famous depiction of the same subject by Rogier van der Weyden of Brussels.
