The Museum's collection of more than 4,000 Japanese prints is distinguished by its strong holdings of work from the late Meiji period (1880-1912), and includes one of the largest collections anywhere of prints by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892), the most famous printmaker of his day. Okuhara Seiko, who created this dramatic, dark impression of Two Moor Hens, was one of the few women known to have been designing prints in Japan at this time.
