Vase

Artist/maker unknown

The Japanese term negoro is taken from the Negoro-ji temple in Wakayama Prefecture, where monks made the distinctive monochrome red lacquerwares for their own daily use. The form of this elegant vase is derived from a metal or ceramic prototype. Its unadorned surface accentuates its beautiful shape.
