Immigrating to Philadelphia in 1906 from Poland, Samuel Yellin brought with him traditional ironworking skills learned during an apprenticeship that culminated in earning Master status. From 1907 to 1920 he taught ironworking at the Pennsylvania Museum School of Industrial Art. The city of Philadelphia is adorned with many examples of his ornate handwrought gates, window grilles, lighting fixtures, and other forms.
