Agate Vase
Derived from ancient Roman murrine glass, the “agate” technique fuses together different-colored canes (small rods of glass) that are then cased in transparent glass and blown to shape. The process results in the piece having its colors arranged in stripes, which occurs naturally in the hard stone agate. This example was cut and polished to further resemble a semiprecious stone.
