Tumbler

Artist/maker unknown

The engraving on this tumbler refers to one of the many Orange lodges founded in 1795 after the Battle of the Diamond, a violent conflict between Protestants and Catholics in County Armaghm, Ireland. These lodges, with William of Orange as their figurehead, were established to support the Irish Protestant cause. The date engraved on the back commemorates King William III's defeat of Catholic James II at the Battle of the Boyne in July 1690.
