Goblet

Image 1 of 21 / 2

The front is decorated with the coat of arms of George III of England, and the words DIEU-ET MON DROIT. (God and my right). The back is decorated with the crest of three feathers of the Prince of Wales.

This goblet is one of at least eight that the Beilby family decorated with the royal coat of arms of George III (1738-1820) of England. They were probably made to commemorate the 1762 birth of George's first son, the Prince of Wales, who later became George IV. It is not known for whom the goblets were made.
