"Amen" Wineglass

Artist/maker unknown

This wineglass is unlike the other "Amen" glasses in the Museum's collection in that it has an incised-twist stem. This type of stem enjoyed a brief period of popularity in the mid-eighteenth century. It is an imitation of the air-twist stem, but instead of trapping air within the stem before it is drawn out, the incised lines are applied to the exterior.
