Saint Mary Magdalen Washing Christ's Feet at the Feast of the Pharisee
Antonio MolinariItalian, 1655 - 1704
Molinari worked in Venice through the latter half of the seventeenth century. His penchant for using transparent golden-brown wash in his drawings and for leaving untouched large areas of white paper to suggest the brilliant Venetian light can be seen as stylistic precedents to the work of the more famous Giovanni Battista Tiepolo in the eighteenth century.
