Artist/maker unknownThe lid, inscribed with the initials “H.R.L.” and set with a medal showing a horseman and a woman under the legend “Ich reise fort von diesen Ort” (I ride away from this place), is marked beneath with an unknown Mainz pewterer’s touchmark with the initial “H” above a shield showing the coat of arms of Archbishop-Elector Johann Friedrich Karl Graf von Ostein (ruled 1743–63).
