Artist/maker unknownIn Kandy in central Sri Lanka, this type of shaped hat with rich metallic embroidery and quivering finial was reserved for royalty and high officials in the precolonial era (before 1815), but in the twentieth century it became favored wedding attire for wealthy grooms.
