The Entombment (First Version)
Girolamo Francesco Maria Mazzola, known as ParmigianinoItalian, 1503 - 1540
A virtuoso draftsman, Parmigianino’s etchings and numerous drawings were particularly influential in the development of Italian printmaking. The impressionistic shorthand of his drawings—delicate, undulating lines that suggest rather than define forms and interrupted contours that imply the fall of light—translated easily into his etching practice.
