With the Aid of Phrenology

Artist/maker unknown

Phrenology attempted to read a person's character and psychology by analyzing the shapes and sizes of bumps on the head. Although discredited today, at the height of its popularity in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, it was a technique accepted by a considerable portion of the population in Europe and the United States. The poster was made for With the Aid of Phrenology, an early silent comedy short produced by the Biograph film company in 1913.
