Terms of Hercules and Deianeira
Giulio BonasoneItalian, 1498 - 1580
These imaginative terms are dressed to represent the ancient mythological figures Hercules and his wife Deianeira. Terms-which derive their name from Terminus, the Roman god of boundaries and landmarks-usually consist of a plain shaft surmounted by a head and shoulders.
