Kyoto-born artist Okada Yuji is widely acknowledged as one of the leading lacquer artists of Japan, having won numerous awards in the Japanese craft world throughout his career. This vase is a spectacular example of the delicate mother-of-pearl inlay on dry lacquer that has become his signature.
