Shawl
Artist Raoul Dufy's first textile design was for the couturier Paul Poiret in 1911. From 1912 to 1928, Dufy was under an exclusive contract with the Lyon silk manufacturer Bianchini-Férier, which was founded in 1888. This block-printed shawl in "The Rose" pattern from 1920 illustrates the modernist sensibility that characterized Dufy's work at this time.
