Woman's Evening Dress

Mark Badgley (American, born 1961) and James Mischka (American, born 1960) met as students at Parsons School of Design; they formed a design team that has been known for elegant evening wear for over twenty years. Their signature beaded gowns revive the glamour of Hollywood icons such as Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe, yet have a contemporary feeling of youth and ease, making them a favorite on red carpets. This gown, supported by a boned underbodice, flows effortlessly from strapless neckline to hem; tiny sequins cover the torso and are sprinkled over the skirt, and an asymmetrical, serpentine design uses various seed beads, bugle beads, brilliants, and upended sequins to produce three-dimensionality.
